Our need for food means that when we fast, we do get hungry. That hunger reminds us of how dependent we are on God. When we are well fed, we can feel very powerful and independent. Hunger quickly reveals we are not as together as we think we are and we are quickly reminded of our desperate need of grace. Fasting deals a death blow to arrogance and pride and throws us back on God’s faithfulness.

Find out more about fasting from this video of a sermon preached at Everyday Church in January 2024.

Here are the notes from the video:

To help establish this rhythm, we will be hosting a Zoom Prayer Meeting for 15 minutes each day from the Monday to Friday during the Week of Prayer at:

Email: office@everyday.org.uk for the Zoom Prayer Room log in details.

An opportunity for men from across Everyday Church to gather to seek God in prayer and worship (and possibly enjoy a bacon sandwich together).

You need to sign up for this Men's Prayer Breakfast for catering purposes by using the button below.

Please note: We regret that we cannot provide childcare.

Join us on Saturday, 28 November, as the women of Everyday Church come together for a morning of praying into four areas of church life: for Salvation, for Signs and Wonders, for Social Action, and for our Sanctification - that we would grow more like Jesus.

Together, we will stir each other’s faith as we bring our prayers and prophetic pictures and words.

Doors open at 10:00am for bacon rolls and refreshments. Worship and prayer will begin at 10:30am until 12:00pm. Please sign up so we have a rough idea of who is coming.

If you are bringing children, there will be a room open at the back of the auditorium for some space for them. Please note that they cannot be left unattended there.

Join us for our daily prayer gathering on Zoom that takes place in the usual Zoom Prayer Room at 8:00am every day.

Ask, Seek, Knock

Jesus encouraged his followers to be persistent in prayer. Join us as we gather as a whole Everyday Church community to worship and pray together.

We are encouraging everyone to attend in person for this incredible time together, but if you are unable to, then please join us on Zoom.

Email office@everyday.org.uk for the Zoom details.
