Everyday People

We tend to think about the ordinary moments in life as dull and boring. This is particularly true for those of us who don’t have a high-flying, go-out-and-change-the-world type of job. The Devil loves to tell us that changing nappies, delivering letters and looking after grandchildren is a waste of time. What’s exciting is that the Bible tells us that each ordinary moment is brim-full with possibility. God wants to open our eyes to the fact that we are Everyday People. It’s in the name of our church but it’s so easy to miss it. Let’s really grasp together that life happens in small, ordinary moments. It’s what we do in these moments that says far more about us, and which achieves far more in God, than our occasional moments of brilliance.

    Series Information

“Whatever You Do” is a 4-week series which kicks off a new year of loving Jesus and living his mission together. The average Christian spends less than 10 hours of their 168-hour week at church – many of them less than 5 hours a week – so the command in Colossians 3:17&23 is of vital importance to our discipleship: “Whatever you do, whether in word and deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to the Father through him … Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.”
